OF THE SEASON ICE-FISHING By Bob Jensen This is the time of year when some ice-anglers start to wind down their ice-fishing. Although there is still llots of ice-fishing action remaining, for some reason, about this time of year, some anglers decide to hang the rods up for the season and start getting ready for open water. |

PERCH By Bob Jensen This is the time of year, in many areas of the Midwest, when fishing slows down for some folks. While it is true that early ice can be very productive, if you hang up the ice-rods and auger now, you're missing some great action... |

Time "Boards and Brown Trout" Action! by Captain Marty Papke Sunny skies greeted us this morning and calm seas were being watched as the last of the coffee was dispersed to "Bordering the Wisconsin and Michigan waters is a tremendous fishery; in fact it's been said this region could be one of the most aggressive Brown Trout fisheries in the state." |

| CATCH
MORE FISH IN RIVERS By Bob Jensen The Midwest is home to many, many rivers, both large and small. These rivers are home to a variety of fish, and much of the time, many of those fish are willing to bite. River fish are almost always fighting the current, which means they expend more energy than their cousins who live in lakes. |

DOWN FOR MORE FISH By Bob Jensen I just returned from an ice-fishing trip to South Dakota. We were on Waubay Lake, a fantastic fishery for really big perch, and lots of them. At times these perch can be very easy to catch, at other times they get a little or a lot finicky. |

| TIPS
FOR SUCCESSFUL FALL FISHING By Bob Jensen Some anglers put their fishing rods away right after Labor Day, and I guess that is understandable. Fall offers many outdoor opportunities. There is hunting and football games and all those other family activities, but if you want to catch a truly big fish, you are missing out on that chance if you don't go fishing in the fall. |

| TOOTHY
FISH IN THE FALL By Bob Jensen Most gamefish have teeth, but some have really noticeable teeth. In the Midwest, whenever an angler talks about chasing "toothy fish", they are either referring to muskies or northern pike. Fall is a great time for catching both of these "toothy fish". |

Fishing Gallery This huge walleye was caught in April of 2003 on Lake Erie. This pig came in at 14 lbs, 31 inches long and had a 21 inch girth. Three Wisconsin boys picked this one up trolling on the last hour of their four day trip to Lake Erie. I guess this crew had early success with some smaller Walleyes jigging, but chose put in the two (unproductive) days of trolling until they landed this one. Fortunately, they have it all on video too! This one is definitely going on the wall! |
