Campsite: Granite CreekThe uphill portion of
the trail today was the most brutal and the river crossing over the Winthrop
River was by far the most dangerous. The river was 30 to 40 feet wide,
raging with snowmelt, and the sound was thunderous. Bowling ball (or
larger) sized boulders crashing and bouncing downstream causes the
“thunder”.
Today was the only day with any rain and it was only for 3 hours! It is unusual to have so
little rain during 10 days on the Wonderland Trail.
