Campsite: Mowich LakeToday
is Carl's birthday - see his birthday cake to the right. The Mowich
Lake campsite is a combination backpack and car camping site. It
reminded us more of a parking lot (and the guidebook indicates that it is
the old parking lot)! There are permanent toilet facilities, which were
welcome.
This day is essentially two parts - the first part of the
day is down-down-down and the second part is up-up-up. Also required
is negotiating the Mowich River. There was no bridge so we had to cross on fallen trees.
The river was swollen from glacier melt and the fallen trees didn't have
handrails! The previous day we ran into a Boy Scout troop, who
indicated that when they crossed the fallen tree in the PM the water was
lapping it! Talk about pucker factor.
