Campsite: Golden LakesWe did not see any
bears during the trip but did read about numerous sightings in the log books
that were located at most camp sites. Here at Golden Lakes we read
about more bear sightings than at any other site. This is probably
due to the excellent blueberry patch about 2 miles from camp.
Just after a long hard climb we came upon the blueberry patch. Energy
level was at a low point and the 30 minutes we spent sitting in the middle
of the patch eating right off the plants was very welcome. We picked
about 1/2 of a Nalgene bottle for use on our oatmeal in the morning.
We arrived early in the afternoon on this sunny day. The Golden
Lakes were just so inviting that we went in for a swim (an did our laundry
at the same time!). Campsite numbers four and five have the best view. If
you can't get either of the sites, at least you should take in the view.
