Deer Hunting Success is a Family Affair

The Cummings family had a lot to celebrate following the 2003 Wisconsin Whitetail Deer Rifle Season. Brothers Tom, Glen and Willi Cummings along with nephew Rob Cummings were hunting on Tom's property near Leeman in Shawano County. On Wednesday about 1:00 p.m. following opening day, the brothers decided to do a drive through a patch of tall grass. Although, they began the drive thinking it was a low percentage drive, they managed to spook a huge buck tucked away deep in the grass. The buck came out of the drive perfectly and several shots were fired that finally brought this big boy down.

Glen and Tom may have to split time with the rack.

The big fella' had nine points and a 15 inch inside spread. As the story is told, there seems to be a bit of mystery as to who really downed the nine pointer. Brothers Tom and Glen claimed they took him down, but know one knows for sure. Although, I hear Glen may be getting first dibs on displaying the rack. Either way, it makes for a great story and even better way to build on that family tradition.
